Roller coaster madness

2012 wasn't my year but it sure was one of a heck of a ride. I surely will not forget the things that happened this year. Those will all be good memories that I'll look back as I say hello to a new year. For the last few weeks of 2012, I'm itching for a fresh new start. A new beginning they say, since I've been pretty mean and bitchy this year. 2011 did change my views and made me strong and responsive but for the wrong reasons and somehow I've made 2012 my window for optimism that didn't come or flew by at all. For the new year, I'm saying goodbye to all those bitterness and hopefully will let it go completely. I'm hoping for a fantastic, fun-filled year. A year full of high hopes and dreams especially that I'm entering the next school year as a College student. I'm just gonna raise my hands up high and scream on the top of my lungs and enjoy the ride of my life. 2013, Come right at me!

Double Celebration

It's my last year in high school and sadly my last year to celebrate Christmas party in UIC. The day started off with a year-end mass then a homeroom celebration. For our class, it wasn't only our Christmas Party it was also our Adviser's Birthday. Double celebration it is! Woot woot! The homeroom Christmas Party went off with a ton of games, lunch and exchange gifts. After the whole party, me and my friends went to Zoofari which I think is harder than Physical Education because it gave me lots of bruises. The photos could tell I had a great time. Of course, great time because of great company. *wink

Way to go, October

Great start for a great (i hope) month. Today is Card Day and the Reading of Honors. I wasn't expecting a pink card (1st honor). Since, I didn't do quite well with Trigonometry. Blame the teacher. But to my surprise, I was called as one of the 1st honorees. I was smiling from ear to ear :D Because of that, I can crush out 3 things from my Senior High School Student Bucketlist:

/ get a pink card slash be a 1st honoree
/ to be the Top1 in my class
/ to be ranked higher from a student in the 1st section Evil grin

And YES. I'm freakin' happy. How's your October doing so far? X, LRC

UPCAT Experience

On my previous entry I shared what transpired within the month/s that my blog was on hiatus. One of the many things that kept me busy was the first college admission test that I took as a senior. It was the University of the Philippines College Admission Test or popularly known as UPCAT.

Early this school year, I heard my batch mates buzzing about taking UPCAT. I was like, "Eh. Why should I bother? I'll never get accepted." UP wasn't really my dream school. I never aspired to be studying there or even to study at the capital, Manila. But when I knew that my best friends will be taking it, I thought, "Why not give it a shot? It's not like I'm going to study there or what. All this for fun and I hope, glory. Hahahaha!" Okay, I admit to have glory and bragging rights was what pushed me to take the exam. Pardon my pride. So I worked on the requirements and fortunately passed before the deadline. A few weeks later, I received my test permit. It was a this-is-it-oh-my-gawd-my-knees-are-shaking moment.

Weeks then days drew closer to my examination date. I was one of the many last takers, August 5 - 12:30PM. It was a Sunday. I was very nervous since I did not review for anything. All I have with me was 2 pencils, an eraser, a sharpener, 2 pieces of bread, bottled water and what I learned all throughout high school or you might say, stock knowledge. Mehehe. During the day of the examinations I woke up around 9AM. I took a bath, ate a lot, you know the usual. Then around 11:30, we traveled all the way to UP Mindanao in Mintal. It was very far from our place. I was late. I arrived around 12:15PM and everybody was in their respective testing rooms. Good thing I was still able to take the exams. My testing room was non-aircon but it was okay since there were a lot of electric fans. Unfortunately, I knew no one at my testing room. Bummer. The test was 5-hours long. The test includes Reading Comprehension, English, Mathematics, Science and an Essay. Those were the tests that I can only remember During the test, some of my co-test takers were eating and is in a carefree vibe. Well, me? I didn't eat. My back hurts. I was pressured. I was sweating. I don't know how they can afford eat and relax when taking admission tests. I salute them tho. The test was finished about 6PM. I was very tired. It was like my brain and muscles was ripped out of me. But it was one heck of a memorable experience.

Ysabel's UPCAT Tips

X Review. Read some of your first year and second year lessons since you might have forgotten them
X Science exam was damn hard. So if you're thinking to take up BS Biology or Chemical Engineering, think again.
X Don't read. Skim. Especially on Language and Reading Comprehension since the time given is very limited to the number of items.
X It's a right minus .25 wrong. So you better think twice about shading just any circle.
X Bring extra Mongol#2 pencils. They don't allow UPCAT takers to use just any other pencil but they do provide the brand of pencils stated above.
X UPCAT is a time-pressured test. You better have a watch when taking the exam.
X Bringing snacks isn't really that necessary. In my case that is.
X Be early. I've noticed that some of my batch mates arrived early so they were placed in the air conditioned room.
X Have a good night's sleep. You don't want to be slouchy during the exam. You need to be alive, alert, awake and enthusiastic!
X Smile. Be optimistic. It's just a test. Lol.
X Most importantly, PRAY.

Thousands aspire to get accepted in this prestigious university. I mean who doesn't want to study at the best college, if not state college, in the Philippines. It is every student's dream. And remember be optimistic and if it's for you, it's for you. X, LRC

X Applied for a position in the Pink Seekers, our school's publication.
X Fortunately, I was accepted! Opinion writer it is! *widewidewidegrin
X 1st monthly examinations. It was okay. 'Nuff said.
X Became part of my school's Bowling Team. Yeheyy!!
X Took University of the Philippines College Admission Test or popularly known as UPCAT. I'll make a blog post about this later on.
X Bucket loads of projects were thrown at us. Take note, these projects are not as easy as it looks but our teachers expect us to do this within a week. URGH!
X 1st periodical examinations. Physics? Well... Let's just not talk about it.

Well, that's pretty much it. We are in a six-day-vacation for the Kadayawan Festival(woot woot!~). I'll try to keep you updated by then. Take Care! X, LRC

Tough Month

It had been weeks since my last entry. To tell you frankly, I don't have anything to say.
x Waking up early as 5:45 is a pain in the ass
x First weeks of Senior year didn't exactly what I pictured it out to be (Let's just not go with the details of it anymore).
x I have lotsa self-loving-high-pride classmates.
x I loss inspiration to go to school and study. I don't know what the missing piece is. Corny but true.
x The new Student Government... uhhh... fugly line-up.
x Been stressed about the whole college thing. I don't know what I want. I've been confused between taking a Pre-Med course or something Engr-like.

As many as the things that make this month tough, there were also those that took the pressure and glumness away from me.
x Having new classmates = New friends. Well yeah some of them were approachable and kind were some *read statement 3 above*
x Shopping trips. Yes my Mom is back on after months of pregnancy.
x Foooooood.
x being elected as Class Secretary and ASSAC Club's Vice President
x braceface no more. After 3 years, my braces were finally gone.
x Applying to different Universities at Manila for FUN

And that my friends is the ups and downs of Paula Ysabel's life for the month of June. How was yours? xx, LRC
